Short Biography

Mark graduated from Marquette University in 1986. He lectures on both computer/network security and digital photography. He has been a Clinical Instructor at the Kois Center since 2006, and became a member of the Restorative Academy in 2008. He was named the Internet Chairperson for the Restorative Academy in 2012. Mark is active in both the state and national dental societies, being a member of the Illinois Dental Benefits Committee, and the ADA's SNODENT Committee.

Course Title: “Technologic Challenges in the Dental Office: How to deal with Office Computers & Networks: Hardware Tricks, Techniques, and Security. And if enough time, what to do about the pesky black helicopters.”

Overview: The internet is not the same as it was five years ago! How do you keep your office network secure? Do you have policies in place as to what is acceptable / unacceptable behavior on YOUR workstations regarding social media, online games, etc? Are you willing to reformat all of your workstations and server should your network become compromised? Where can you stay current to review various hardware and software products to keep your network safe?

Course Objectives:

  1. To become comfortable with maintaining your own network, including updating your workstations, daily backups, offsite backup, and more.

Course Title: “Digital Photography Workflow –From Obtaining To Archiving Your Photos”

Overview: There’s a plethora of digital cameras available but they aren’t designed with dentistry in mind. This course is designed to have you and/or your staff obtain outstanding results when obtaining intraoral or extraoral photographs.

Course Objectives:

  1. Use your digital camera to its fullest capability, including the correct use of mirrors and retractors to obtain outstanding photos, proper camera settings, and camera/computer workflow
