Recognized Specialist
Overview: A Recognized Specialist is a participant who has completed the designated Kois Courses which pertain to their specialized dental education. This category does not have any requirement for maintenance, but still will allow some benefits.
In pursuit of becoming a Recognized Specialist, existing course prerequisites have been modified. For instance, for Track Course VI & VII, the only prerequisites are Courses I & II (as opposed to Courses I, II, III, IV & V for other dental professionals).

Criteria for maintaining Recognized Specialist Membership:
Benefits of Recognized Specialist Status
- Eligible to attend the Annual Kois Center Symposium. (Note: completion of all nine Kois Courses, and achievement of “Graduate” membership, is still the requirement for participation in the Mentor Exam)
- Contact Information is included in the Membership Lookup page of the Kois Center Website (subject to agreement of the Sharing Information Policy). This Membership Lookup is a referral resource which is available to the Kois Center community and the greater dental community as a whole. (Note: For those who are a Recognized Specialist and also obtain membership of Graduate/Mentor/Clinical Instructor, you will be included in the Lookup under each of your membership categories, ie: Recognized Specialist and Mentor)
